Are you looking for some journal inspiration? With summer already half way over, you might be wondering where the time went. With the longer daylight hours and our sunshine induced energy, we might have packed our summer schedule leaving little time for rest. If you forget to take care of your self care now might be the time to start journaling. You can read more about starting a journal practice here. These August journal prompts for creating a simple life are meant to inspire you with a new daily prompt each day of the month. Remember you don’t have to spend a lot of time on journaling – just a few minutes a day is enough to see the benefits of this self care habit.

My word for the month of August is Simplify. These writing prompts will prompt you to reflect on how you can simplify your life. They will encourage you be intentional on choosing activities you truly care about and maybe letting those less important tasks fall off your list.

Simple Life Journal Prompts for August

I’m excited to share 30 daily journal prompts for August to help inspire you to simplify your life.

  1. Set your intention for the month. This can be one word, a list of goals, or a description of how you would like the month to progress.
  2. How can you simplify your schedule this month?
  3. List three things that are most important to you.
  4. Are you prioritizing those things that are most important to you?
  5. What activities take up most of your time? Is the time spent, worth it?
  6. Describe your ideal day.
  7. How does your current routine compare to your ideal day?

  1. Imagine you had one extra hour per day. How would you spend it?
  2. How does your home make you feel?
  3. Has anything been pulling you out of your wellbeing lately?
  4. When you think of a simple life, what do you think of?
  5. Do you have a morning routine? Do you find your mornings are rushed or simple?
  6. What activity do you enjoy doing the most?
  7. How does clutter make you feel?

Read about creating a self care sanctuary in your home.

  1. How much time do you spend cleaning? Is there a way to simplify this process?
  2. Are there things in your home (or life in general) you can get rid of to make your life simpler?
  3. Describe your life five years ago. How does it compare to your life now?
  4. Write about a skill or hobby you would like to learn and how you can get started.
  5. What is a current global issue that concerns you? What actions can you take to make a positive impact?
  6. What are some simple things that bring you joy?
  7. List 5 things you are grateful for. How can you show gratitude more often?
  8. What is your favorite quote?
  9. Examine your to do list. What could you give yourself permission not to do and why?
  10. What is your favorite meal? How often do you have it?
  11. Describe your current mood.
  12. What is one thing you could remove from your routine to make you happier?
  13. List 5 simple things that make you happy.
  14. What is your favorite holiday? Why?
  15. What is one thing I can do to improve my mental well-being?

Notes

Remember this is just a starting off point. You can use these prompts however you wish. Do them out of order or let them spur ideas of your own.
