Summer break is just around the corner. The temperatures are rising and the kids are itching to make up for lost time outside. But for all kids, the novelty of summer break wears off and they get stuck in a rut of binge watching Netflix or sleeping the day away. I created a short but sweet bucket list. Once per week we will choose something on this list and schedule a date.
Summer Bucket List
Here are 12 Mother/Daughter date ideas to get you through the summer:
- Get some locally made ice-cream.
- Pick your own summer berries.
- Try some DIY beauty treatments.
- Go to the beach.
- Pack a picnic and do some outdoor reading and/or forest bathing.
- Choose a local restaurant and have lunch on their patio.
- Take a morning trip to the Farmers Market.
- Make a shop local date and browse up and down Main Street.
- Have a bonfire.
- Go to a free outdoor concert.
- Go on an hike and have an Instagram Photo shoot.
- Make a summer playlist together.
Bonus:
- Keep a Mother/Daughter journal.
Why Keep a Bucket List?
A bucket list is a great way to not let “life” get in the way of living. We often fall victim to our routines and forget to spice things up now and then. Before you know it, the season has changed again and you realize you didn’t make time for your favorite summer activities. This happened to me last year. We were so busy building our house that I did not once take the kids to the beach. I wanted to make sure this year was different.
So next time you are scrolling on your phone, take some time to be intentional about recording the “bucket list” ideas you come across. Don’t just settle for “oh, how it would be nice if someday … “. Make it happen.
