Welcome to week two of the Self Care Challenge where I challenge you (and me) care for our physical selves with some self love. So often our self care gets “forgotten” about as we selflessly care for the people we love and work hard for what we are passionate about. It is more important than ever to start taking care of ourselves and this challenge will show you what you have been missing.
Self-care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what’s left of you.

Week Two – Treating Your Body with Self Love
Body positivity and self love has never been an easy thing for me. My physical self care tends to be at the bottom of my list. I don’t like exercise. I often put off health checks. And my beauty routine is pretty much the bare minimum.
That is why this challenge will be great for me to get out the rut of ignoring physical self care and start reaping the benefits of taking care of my health inside and out.

Below you will find a graphic for each day. Clicking on the graphic will jump you to the section of the page with the instructions or inspiration for each activity.
P.S. Make adjustments to the prompts as you see fit. Have fun with it. This is all about how you are able to fit slow living into your life. The only rule is that you do you!
Day 8 – Treat Yourself to a Spa Day
No need for an expensive price tag here. You can treat yourself to a DIY spa day. Put on your comfiest pajamas, light some candles, and get our your favorite beauty products and devote some time to enjoying this self love standby.
Day 9 – Stretch for 10-15 Minutes
Many of us sit at a desk all day long. We rarely get our bodies moving during the work day and when we get home we lack the energy to do much more than flop on the sofa. During lunch, take a few minutes to do some gentle stretches. Raise your hands over your head and gently lean side to side. Bend forward and allow your hands and head to hang toward the ground for a few seconds. Slowly stand again. Do what ever feel right in the moment. Try lunges or some yoga positions or just shake out your muscles a bit.
Day 10 – Try Some Yoga
Even if you have never done yoga before, I am sure you can find some yoga poses to suit your fitness level. Start slowly. Find a class near you or find one online.
Day 11 – Go to Bed Early
There are few things we can do for our self care that are better than getting quality sleep. If you have a tendency to allow your to do list (or your Netflix binge) to keep you up past a reasonable hour, now is the time to prioritize your sleep. Show your body (and brain) some love by going to bed a bit early.
Day 12 – Cook a Healthy Meal
Nourish yourself from the inside out with a healthy homecooked meal. It doesn’t have to complicated or time consuming. Some of the healthiest meals actually are the quickest to make. And who doesn’t love a big salad on a summer day. Check out Pinterest for some ideas.
Day 13 – Try a Free Online Workout
One of the benefits to technology is you can learn just about anything online. Want to learn a new exercise routine? Look it up on YouTube!
Day 14 – Write a Love Letter to your Body
Now it is time to dig a bit deeper. Get out your journal and write a love letter to your body. Thank your body for all it does for you. Treat it with love and kindness. Admire it in a way you haven’t before. Show yourself some self love for a change and start quieting the negative self talk.
That brings us to the end of our second week of the self care challenge. I hope you gained a new appreciation for your body and some new habits to take you into a future where self love is a priority.
