Step Two: How Far You Have Come
The next step in the Life Audit is evaluating your past.
If you missed Step One, click here.
Let’s see how this past year rated. If you happened to do an audit before, now is the time to get it out and see whether you stayed on track with your goals. Seeing what habits stuck and where you had trouble in the past will help you know how to direct your efforts going forward.
Thinking about the past year, answer these questions.
- What was your biggest win in the past year?
- Did you experience any losses?
- Describe the past year using one word.
- What lesson did you take away from this past year?
- What was your proudest moment of the year?
- Did you fall into any bad habits? What would you like to change?
Step Three: Your Dream Life
Now let’s look to the future. What would your dream life look like? Consider all aspects of your life – Social, Recreational, Mental, Spiritual, Physical, Environmental, Career, and Financial.
Ask yourself these questions:
- What do you see yourself doing for fun on the weekends?
- Are you alone or with a group of people?
- How do you see yourself relaxing at the end of the day?
- What will make you happy?
- What kind of spiritual practices do you see yourself adopting? It doesn’t have to be related to any religion.
- How do you feel physically?
- How do you imagine your appearance?
- What is your living space like?
- Where do you live?
- What is your community like?
- What is your career?
- Where do you see yourself financially?
